Storm at Sea pieced

I finished piecing my Storm at Sea, and now am looking forward to quilting it.
It is interesting to me how the focus points vary every time I look at it.  Initially the white stars, and the surrounding brown catch my eye.  Then I see the green circles, and sometimes my eyes fall on the green "X" shape between the stars.  This pattern was definitely a challenge to piece, but overall I am happy with my points and corners.

There will  be a lot of SID on this one, as I want my piecing to really show up well, then the fun will begin.

And and update on my "running" adventure.  I put the word running in quotes because the actually amount of running I am currently doing is small, but I tell you what, it is pushing my limits just as it is.  Maybe it has to do with staringt a running program for the first time at age 57.  I repeated week one last week, but today I will start week two.  My goal in this is not to actually run a 5K, but to do more than I am doing now, push myself to something more.  I look forward to the day when I struggle less, the good outweighs the bad, and I can enjoy running at whatever level I get to for the joy of running.

Thanks for your company, I appreciate it.

Esther

  1. Storm at Sea is one of my all time favourite patterns - like you, every time I look I see a different element. Yours looks gorgeous. Good for you for taking up running - it's not how far or how fast, it's what makes us feel better!

  2. this is gorgeous! I can't belive how fast you got this done. good job on the running! every step forward is closer to your goal. I had a good run today. took 3 days off and I think that made a difference. at this age, I find it takes the body longer to recuperate. good luck with Week 2!

  3. Stunning ! -love the fact you have used only plain fabrics. The points look perfect! Good luck with the running. I content myself with going to the gym two or three times a week and using the crosstrainers and bikes is less trauma on the old ankles!

  4. Fantastic cant wait to see how you quilt it.

Well done with the running. I used to run a lot, nothing like it. Now I have arthritis in my knee so no more running for me. I wish I could still do it.

  9. So beautiful! I love too how you see one part of the pattern then another. Good for you that you are running. I am 56 so can so relate. It is challenging to get this body moving! Remember slow and steady wins the race. Take care!

  10. It is just beautiful! I love the way the colors compliment each other. And your points are perfect. Yes, you'll need to sew "every stinking seam" but it will really make the design pop. Wow!
